    Description

    This is a stock for an authentic stock for the Model 1861/63 Springfield rifle used during the Civil War. The stock has been spliced at the front barrel band. From the front band back the wood is from the Civil War period. I believe that the new forend is not Civil War period. Even though no pins have been added to secure the new forend, when the bands are installed you can't tell the pieces are separate. There are no inspector cartouches, or any other stamps visible in the stock. The butt plate comes with the stock, there is no US stamp on the butt plate. This could make a nice project for the reenactor or NSSA shooter in the family.
