    Description

This collapsible tin drinking cup was carried by soldiers in the Civil War.  It was made to collapse to save space in the soldier’s haversack.
This cup is seen in Francis Lord's Civil War Collector's Encyclopedia, Volume II, page 115, as shown in the photo.
The design consists of three separate but each slightly larger metal bands that, when extended, form a watertight cup.
The cup, when fully extended, measures just over 3 inches tall and 2 ½ inches across.
