1966 Fender Telecaster with hard shell case
Wonderful 1966 Telecaster.  Great 1960s Tele tones.  1966 Teles are very close to pre-CBS Teles.  Although the transistion to CBS occured in late 1964, it took some time for CBS to actually make changes to production processes.  They focused on modifying Strats in 1966, but they didn't really get around to putting their stamp on Teles until 1967.
This one feels like you'd expect a vintage instrument to feel.  Smooth and worn in all the right places.  Original neck, body, bridge, neck plate, control plate.  Pickguard, wiring and pots are modern, not original 1966.  Body is refinished, there was some extra routing in the neck pickup cavity that has been not so professionally repaired.  It works fine and there are no tone or functional issues whatsoever.  The pickups are a vintage 1969 set from another vintage Tele that I once owned.  They have had the leads replaced with modern belden wire, but the windings are to the best of my knowledge original.  The tuners are single line Klusons, which would have come originally with the guitar, and I was told that they are original, but to me they do not have the patina of a set from 1966 so I'm going to guess that they are reproductions.  They work fine though.  This guitar sounds incredible through a vintage amp and plays perfectly with the exception that the frets are a little low. This actually makes it a bit easier to play in my opinion, but you can feel that they are low.  I believe the frets to be original.  For a few hundred dollars you can get a professional fret job if you prefer higher frets.  Most vintage 1966 Telecasters are going for over k.  Here's a chance to get a real vintage players guitar for less, and for about the price of nice Fender Custom Shop wannabe.  This guitar has the feel and tone that even the Fender Custom shop cannot match today.  The case is likely not original, but I think it's from the late 1960s.
