This is NOT a shiny satin vest.
It is a matte black and has a subtle square weave (see pictures -
I overexposed some so you could see the detail of the pattern)
This is a true dark black vest.  You absolutely could wear this to a daytime occasion (Church, job interview, business meeting etc) it does not scream "High School Prom".
Pair the vest with jeans and no tie and it easily can go casual for a date night.
This is a quality vest by Karl Knox and with proper care should last for years - and this solid matte black will never go out of style.  My husband still wears the one he invested in when we got married 20 years ago.  It is amazing how often you wear it once you have it.
