Description
Doubles Club (NYC) menu from October 28, 1979 signed by FRANK SINATRA. Sinatra was in New York City that night for an event: SINATRA AT THE MET – For Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centerat the Metropolitan Opera House – Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. After the event, Sinatra, his wife – Barbara, and others went to the Doubles Club. An individual who worked at the Doubles Club asked Frank to sign the menu and he did. Also included is a clipping from the Daily News from the next day, October 29
th
, documenting that Sinatra was there. On the front of the menu, someone wrote the date in pencil “10/28/79.” It does not get better than this – Frank Sinatra autograph pegged to a specific date and location!
The one-page menu measures 8 ¾” x 12 ¾” is in fair condition and intact – not bad for being 40+ years old! Frank Sinatra’s original ink signature is prominent on the back of the menu, is approximately 5” long and presents very nicely.
SEE SCANS FOR CONDITION.
Watermark "ebay" does not appear on the actual item. Some wear and signs of age – but no impact to the gorgeous signature. I will also include the two 8” x 10” photos of Frank Sinatra (both images are from the approximate time period of the signature) and the original yellowed page from the NY Daily News documenting Sinatra’s whereabouts that evening.
Sales tax applied and collected directly by eBay, where applicable.
US shipping via USPS Priority Insured. International shipping via eBay Global Shipping Program only.
Any questions, please let me know. Do not let this one get away!
Here is your opportunity to own an original Frank Sinatra signature – an authentic autograph from the prime of his career (signed the same year he recorded “Theme From New York, New York!” Genuine Sinatra signatures are very rare! This is a must-have piece for the serious Sinatra collector.
ALSO A TERRIFIC ITEM WHERE YOU CAN POINT TO A SPECIFIC DATE AND LOCATION WHEN THE AUTOGRAPH WAS OBTAINED.
A terrific investment - the signature of a legend. Since the 100th anniversary of his birth, prices of authentic Frank Sinatra signatures have continued to go up in value.
Sinatra was a willing autograph signer throughout his career (60+ years), however many forgeries and secretarial signatures exist in the market today. It is widely known that Sinatra utilized secretaries to deal with his mail correspondence, including autograph requests, as far back as 1939-1940. Many (some would argue MOST) of the Sinatra signatures you see for sale in the market today are classic examples of non-malicious secretarial signatures from the 1970's - 1990's or outright forgeries. Do not take on the risk of buying a Sinatra signature that you do not have confidence in. Look for signatures that have credible background and provenance. Buy from someone you trust. Have signatures checked out by people you trust or third-party authenticators. Third-party authenticators offer a “quick opinion” that can give you peace of mind. Do not buy something that you are unsure about.
I have been collecting Sinatra signatures for a long time and have many other items like the one for sale here and still others that I am considering selling in the future.
