    Description

1950's Kay model 1518 17" Archtop cutaway single-pickup Electric Guitar == Essentially an Aristocrat without the bling; it's the same 17" body as the Aristocrat -- stamped "K151898" on inside back, which I'm interpreting as model K1518 batch number 98; of course, it could be model K151 batch 898 -- unfortunately I could find info on neither model number == Anyway, it's a full-body 3" depth jazz box, 17" wide at the lower bout, with a solid spruce top and laminated maple back & sides, long 25 15/16" scale, multi-ply top binding and single-ply back and neck binding == Tuners and knobs non-original, tailpiece hinge brazed solid == Re-painted -- red is thickly applied probably with a brush and could use some sanding and buffing to smooth out, but actually doesn't look bad overall == This one has the very common (for Kay acoustics of the era) separation at the neck heel (pictured), so the action is high at almost 1/4" 12th fret low E -- baseball bat neck is straight with a bit of relief -- fret wear mainly at first 3 frets (plays ok in the cowboy chord position so this is where the wear is lol) == Electronics working with a bit of noise in the pots == Sorry, no case == Playable as-is for slide and open chord/ single string lines, or a real good candidate for some restoration work == Worldwide Shipping ==
